    Smile Sensitivity after a crown

    Hello

I would like some advise regarding a crown that I had fitted by dentist about 2 weeks ago. Since the gold cap was fitted, the tooth has been very sensitive to cold water and food. I have seen by own dentist and he told me that this is normal and it will settle down.

Can you tell me how long this sensitvity is going to last and what I can do to reduce the sensitivity and what I should do if this sensitivity gets worst.

Dear Liam , Unfortunately there is not much you can do regrading the sensitivity. the sensitivity should have subsided after 24-48 hours. There are several reasons that a tooth can become sensitive after a crown, for example :
If your crown is hight and taking more pressure than other teeth when bitting, your dentist can check this for you and adjust if needed.
The type of cement that was used to cement the crown.
    Trauma from the crown preparation,

The sensitivity could get worse and may need a root canal treatment.
