    Thumbs down Tightly fitted crown

I had a new white crown fitted at my back of my mouth following root treatment about 2 weeks ago.

Ever since then I feel that it is a tightly fitted crown, and it is causing me discomfort and feels like its pushing my other teeth. I cant seem to get floss between the crown and the other teeth because the gap between them is so tight.

Please let me know if I have to have the crown removed, or can it be adjusted…? Why is the crown fit not good? I am happy with the appearance of the crown just hate the tight feeling against my other teeth.

    Default Tightly fitted crown

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

When crowns are fitted they can feel a little tight and feel that they are pushing on the other teeth. If this is minimal within few days it feel normal as teeth will adjust to the presence of the new crown. But if still feel tight after few days then it may be too tight and teeth have not been able to adjust as there is not enough space. But in these cases if the crown is this tight you will not be able tog et them to fit in the first place. So your case is a bit interesting. It may be the case that it is just a little too high.
What I suggest is for you to come and see us and we examine the crown and it may be possible with simple adjustments it will be sorted out. Otherwise it needs to be removed and replaced.
