    Lightbulb Decayed tooth

I have a decayed molar tooth which has been decaying for a while now but due to work commitments, I have not had a chance to see my dentist to have this tooth filled.

Over the last few days, this tooth has been throbbing and the pain has now got very bad, to a point that I cant put any pressure on the tooth when I am eating.

Do you think this decayed tooth has infection or could the pain be caused by something else? If it has infection, would I need antibiotics or a filling to stop the pain? Can the emergency dentist see me tonight to fix this tooth?

    Default Decayed tooth

    Hi,

    thank you for your question.

From your description it seems your tooth need root canal treatment and is not just going to be a simple case of a filling. First the canals have to be debrided and instrumented and once this is done to fill the tooth and then place a cap on it. We would be very happy to see you and assist you with your problem tonight.
