    Arrow Hole in my tooth

    Hiya

I have a hole in my back tooth which has been there for at least 18 months and up until recently it was not causing any discomfort or pain but today it has been hurting badly.

Most of the time the tooth throbs and I find that I cant bite on the tooth and when I drink a cold drink, there is like a shooting pain that is so painful that makes me stop drinking water.

Do you think that if I come in and have the tooth filled, the pain will stop? I am really nervous when it comes to drilling, so I will need IV sedation. Can that be arranged at short noticed?

    Default Hole in my tooth

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

Yes it is possible to arrange for IV sedation with short notice but what you need is an examination of the hole in your tooth and assessment of what is needed for the tooth. From your symptoms it may be necessary to have root canal treatment and if so there after a crown will be needed. The appointment for RCT, depending which tooth it is, can be long appointment and a hence long sedation.

So what I suggest is to come and see us for examination and then we assess the situation and accordingly plan your treatment and accordingly arrange for sedation. This is the most effective and time and cost effective way of sorting out your problem.
