    Thumbs down Wonky teeth

    Hi

I have a few wonky teeth at the back of my month that are hurting when I bite on them. I recently saw my dentist and he said that three or maybe four wobbly teeth will have to be removed because they have gum disease.

I don't want to lose these teeth and especially dont understand why so many teeth need to go. Surely with modern dentistry it should be possible to save at least some of them. Apparently these teeth became this way because I smoke and did not clean them properly.

I am only 34 years old and don't fancy having a denture, do you know if there is anyway of saving these wonky teeth and avoiding a denture? Plus any ideas about what I can do to stop the pain from these teeth?

    Default Wonky teeth

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

If your teeth are badly affected by periodontal disease and have lost a lot of the boney support around you back teeth resulting, as you put it, having wonky teeth then you may not have much choice and may loose few teeth. If you are not sure about this what I would suggest is to get a second opinion by and gum disease specialist, periodontist. If at all possible to save a tooth they would be able to tell you all about it and what is need to do to achieve this.
PS; you need to stop smoking asap.
