    Unhappy painful Wisdom tooth

    Dear Sir

My wisdom tooth came through about 2 years ago and since then it has been hurting me now and then. I have seen my own dentist and been told that the extraction is a very difficult one and the dentist recommended that I have the tooth removed at the local hospital.

I have been told by the hospital that the waiting list is long and the tooth will probably be removed in 3-4 months. The tooth hurt very badly last weekend and I had to go to A&E for some antibiotics. I would like the tooth removed as soon as possible. Can you help me?

    Smile Painful Wisdom tooth

    Dear Barry

If a wisdom tooth has been repeatedly causing problems for you over the past 2 years, it may be that it needs to be extracted. Not all dentists extract wisdom teeth as this is one of those areas of dentistry that needs special oral surgery experience.

I would recommed that you look at our Wisdom tooth management page Wisdom Tooth Management: Pain, Removal and Recovery | Pearl Dental Clinic for more details on how wisdom teeth should be managed.

Our Emergency Dentistry team are very experienced at doing wisdom teeth extractions and they routinely extract wisdom teeth even at 3am in the morning 365 days of the years. You can book an emergency consultation appointment by calling the 24Hour emergency line on
    0208 547 9997.
