    Smile Impacted wisdom tooth

    Hi

My bottom right wisdom tooth has been hurting for a while now. My dentist took an xray of it today and said that its an impacted wisdom tooth that is causing decay on the tooth in front of it.

He recommended that I go to the local hospital to have it removed but mentioned that there will be a waiting list for having the tooth removed. He said that he does not do impacted wisdom tooth extractions himself.

I would like to know if your emergency dentists do impacted wisdom tooth extractions and if so, how quickly can such a procedure be done at Pearl dental clinic. Also how many days recovery will I need after the extraction, before I could go back to work?

    Red face Impacted wisdom tooth

    Hi

    Thank you for your post.

We see a lot of impacted wisdom teeth at Pearl dental clinic and we often recieve referals from other dentists for impacted wisdom tooth extractions.

An impacted wisdom tooth will usually need surgical treatment in order to remove the tooth. Surgical wisdom tooth extractions may cause post-operative bleeding, pain and swelling.

We will totally numb the area before the extraction begins, so you will not feel any pain during the procedure but you may have some pain after the procedure. We usually recommend NSAID to control post-operative pain as long as you do not have any allergies and medical contraindications.

You may need ~3 days rest after the procedure but the length of rest time you need varies from case to case. We are able to provide you with a medical note for your employer should you require one.
