    Question Gum pain

    Hello

My gums have been hurting for the past week. It started with pain on one side of my mouth and now the gums on both sides of my mouth ache almost all the time. My gums feel very sore and bleed very easily when I try to brush my teeth.

I have tried bonjela and two different types of mouthwash and the gum pain is still there. Could you tell me what could be causing my gum pain? What can I do to stop this pain? Are there any special painkillers available for gum pain?

    Cool Gum pain

    Thank you for your post.

Without seeing your gums clinically its difficult to guess exactly what is the cause of your gum pain. Gum pain may be caused by reversible gum inflammation (Gingivitis) or irreversible gum disease (Periodontitis) or some other oral disease.

Frequently gum pain and gum inflammation is caused by poor oral hygiene and this can be corrected by good professional cleaning and improved oral hygiene by the patient. Simply taking painkillers is only likely to mask the pain and will not improve the underlying condition.

I would recommend that you see a dentist as soon as possible for a full gum assessment and a treatment plan to combat your gum pain.
