    Default Pain!!

I woke up this morning with the most excrutiating toothache. I dont know which tooth it is coming from, the whole of the left side of my face hurts. It doesn't look swollen but feels like it is. I have taken nurofen plus which seems to ease the pain slightly but only for about an hour and after that I am back to being in tears again due to the pain.
I don't know what else to try, can you suggest anything? I live in Guildford, Surrey and cant find a 24hour emergency dentist anywhere near me

    Thank you for your post.

This sort of pain sounds like irrersible pulpitis which can be very painful and painkillers are unlikely to be able to achieve much. I think you are using a good painkiller but you should find an emergency dentist as soon as possible as I dont think the painkiller alone can stop the pain by its own. I am affraid I dont know of any emergency dentists open 24 hours a day in Guildford. I think our practice is about 1 hour drive from Guildford and we occasionally get patients from there on weekends and night time.

    Thumbs up Pain!!

Thank you for your post Vicki.

First of all I am sorry to hear that you are in so much pain from your tooth. Other than the best over the counter pain killers there is very little you can do or take yourself or that we can advise without having seen you clinically.

The best option would be to have the tooth examined by a Dentist at your earliest convenience, and treated.

At Pearl Dental Clinic, we run a 24 hour/7 days a week emergency dental service, and we always try to carry out treatment to resolve your pain straight away in the same visit. Treatment is always carried out by one of our fully trained and experienced Dentists.

If you would like to arrange an appointment, you can contact our reception anytime!

    Default Painkillers

I have bad toothache from time to time and have used Oil of Cloves - available over the counter in Chemists for about £2.50. It tastes disgusting but is far better then the toothache!

Clove oil is a traditional remedy in my country too. But I doubt that it would be very helpful in the case of such severe pain as the OP had. Good luck to you, OP. Hope you found an emergency dentist.
