    Exclamation wisdom tooth hurting

    Hi

My bottom wisdom tooth has been aching since the weekend. I went to see my dentist today and he said the tooth is infected and should be removed at the hospital. I have been given painkillers and anti-biotic but they do not seem to do much against the pain. I would like to know if the wisdom tooth can be removed whilst its infected or do i need to wait for the infection to be cleared first. I wish to have this wisdom tooth removed as soon as possible and don't want to wait for a hospital appointment. I would like to know if I need to have time off work after the wisdom tooth is removed?

    Thumbs up wisdom tooth hurting

    Thank you for your post.

Usually it is not advisable to remove a tooth whilst it is heavily infected as it can cause a lot of pain during the extraction process.

At Pearl Dental Clinic we have both Dentists with extensive experience in wisdom teeth extraction and also Specialist oral surgeons who can see you almost straight away for an appointment to have the tooth removed.

The first step would be to see you for an initial assessment which can be done straight away. If safe to do so, the tooth can be removed in the same visit, and if not, a second appointment can be arranged within a couple of days.

Appointments for initial assessment are available 7 days a week between 9 a.m till 9 p.m, and 24 hours a day if you are in a lot of pain in case of emergency. If you would like to arrange an appointment or have any further queries, please feel free to contact our reception team on the numbers below.
