    Unhappy Sharp tooth

    Hi

My dentist did a white filling for me last week and since the injection wore off, I have noticed a sharp tooth edge that seem to hurt my tongue when I rub my tongue against the sharp tooth.

Is this sharp tooth going to get better by itself or should I go back to see my dentist for adjustment? If I leave the tooth as it for a while, am I going to cause any damage to my tooth?

    Red face Sharp tooth

    HI,

    Thank you for your post.

The sharpness of the tooth is very unlikely to settle and most likely you need to have the tooth smoothened by a dentist. Specially if it is causing harm to the tongue because it can ulcerate your tongue.
It is less likely that the sharpness would damage your restoration unless your white/composite filling is a bit high and then there is the risk of breaking off part of the restoration due to overload or tooth becoming uncomfortable to bite on.

My suggestion would be to see a dentist and have the restoration assessed and smoothen it. We would be very happy to assisst you with this at Pearl Dental Clinic or alternatively return to the dentist that has restored your tooth and rectify the problem.
