How can I stop my tooth aching?

I saw the dentist earlier this week and I need a tooth filling and part of it replacing, I also need the root nerve removing. Until I have this done how can I stop my tooth aching?

If you are having toothache from the tooth that your dentist has stated needs root canal treatment, the best way to stop the tooth aching will be to see your dentist and start root canal treatment on that tooth.
