Post Do you know of any toothache remedies?

    Hi

I have been in pain all night and cant sleep because my toothache is so severe. I have tried looking for toothache remedies on the internet and have already tried swishing my mouth with cold water and putting an aspirin next to my tooth and putting a hot water bottle on the side of my face but the pain just does not seem to stop. I have also tried ibuprofen and paracetamol and some other painkillers that I could find but none of them seem to even stop the pain for a short time. Do you know of any toothache remedies that actually work? Please help me to stop this severe toothache. Any suggestions?

Arrow Do you know of any toothache remedies?

The best toothache remedy is to see a dentist and have operative treatment carried out on your tooth if necessary. Painkillers only mask the pain short term and dont usually address the underlying problem. Also there are side effects with taking painkillers and many toothache remedies dont work in certain clinical situations. Please call the emergency dentist on-call on 0208 547 9997 or 0208 481 0003 to book a dental emergency consultation.

I have tried all of the above home remedies, as well. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Either way, it shouldn't be something you do for long term. If you have a toothache, you have a problem that is not just going to go away by trying a home remedy.

Of course it's not a long-term deal but a lot of the time we don't have the means to get to a dentist. I have had to wait a couple weeks at a time before I could see a dentist and it's painful. I have always used Anbesol or Orajel to provide some temporary relief.

    Hi Kevin,

Toothache remedies like painkillers and cold water are usually very temporary if at all they are effective. I strongly advise you to see an emergency dentist to determine the cause of the toothache and have the necessary emergency dental treatment to ease or stop the pain completely.
