    Thumbs down Cracked teeth

    Hello

I have two front teeth which cracked in an accident last week. The emergency dentist put some temporary fillings on them but said that cracked teeth sometimes die and will then need root canal work.

Ever since last week, my front teeth have been very sensitive and although, I am not in a lot of pain, there is gradually a pain that seems to be getting worst as time proceeds.

I definitely wish to avoid root canal treatment if for no other reason, on cost grounds alone as I heard that root canal can be expensive but if the worst does happen and these cracked teeth need root canal, how much cost would be involved with that treatment?

    Thank you for your question.

Unfortunately a traumatized tooth can lose vitality at some point after the traumatic incident and need root canal treatment. If this situation occurs, you need to see a dentist asap to start root canal treatment.

Root canal treatment is usually successful (~70% success rate over 5 years) and it costs between £200 and £450.
