pain!

Last week my son whos 18 bit on a raw piece of veg and pushed a back tooth into his gum. He has been to see a dentist who said that he needed to go to hospital to have it taken out but he would have to wait two weeks. He is in a lot of pain, cant sleep, cant go to work. Painkillers are not helping. Any advice please?

I have not heard of a vegtable pushing a tooth back into the gum before, but its possible for a hard vegtable to break a tooth thats decayed and it then appears as though the tooth has been pushed back but actually its fractured. However trauma can cause tooth intrusion and if a vegtable has caused true intrusion thats unusal.

Anyway he is in pain, so he needs to be soon ASAP. We usually do a lot of extractions that some dentists refer to hospitals as we have very experienced dentists in this field.
