Cracked Wisdom Tooth

Hi,

I have a cracked wisdom tooth, which I think has developed an infection underneath the tooth. I sometimes get a sharp, acute pain underneath my jaw, directly underneath the cracked wisdom tooth, it's not a constant pain, most of time it's fine. But I'm concerned I may have developed an abcess, is this possible? Would I need to go to hospital for this problem? If not, how much would it roughly cost to have any treatment for this type of problem?
