Default Upper molar toothache - subsides to thick throb with paracetamol

I have had some toothache in my backmost upper right molar for about 5 days.
It has gradually intensified and tonight has become very painful.
Yesterday and today I have taken some paracetamol and the pain has subsided somewhat however I am aware of the pain despite the paracetamol.
Tonight, I was out and drank four ciders between the hours of 18.00 and 22.00. I am mostly sober now.
When I got home around 23.00 I took some paracetamol.
At 23.45 the pain was incredibly intense - but has subsided somewhat since, although a numb pain remains.
I suspect I could phone NHS Direct for Emergency 24 dentists but I am wondering how much Pearl would charge to examine and potentially extract tonight?
I note that the range is from £75 to £250. What sort of extraction might warrant a £250 charge? Is that related to work undertaken at 04.00?!?!
Perhaps I'll wait until the Friday-night mayhem experienced by NHS Direct subsides and I can establish an emergency 24 hour NHS dentist in the Croydon area. Why does CROYDENT only take calls between 18.30 and 22.00????
I wonder what the risk of taking some more paracetamol at 03.00 instead of waiting until 05.00 would be?
Mike

Smile Upper molar toothache

Thank you for your post Mike.

I am sure it wasn't easy writing with the pain!!

24 hour emergency @ Pearl Dental Clinic operates 7 days a week. The normal emergency fee is £30. If you wish to be seen after 21:00 this can go upto between £50 - £100 depending on how late the Dentist will be seeing you.

A wisdom tooth extraction is usually a complex surgical extraction, and our Emergency Dentist would firstly need to confirm after assessment that it is possible for him to remove it. In some cases of extreme swelling or high possible risks of complication the Dentist may prescribe medication first for the swelling or recommend the extraction be done at a Hospital.

If on the other hand it is safe and in your best interest to remove the tooth, the Dentist will do it then and there for you, and the charge would be between £200 - £250 for a wisdom tooth extraction.

If you wish to be seen at any time, contact the 24 HR number (02085479997 / 02084810003)
