My tooth hurts when I bite on it

For the past week, I have been having ongoing toothache from one of my back right bottom jaw teeth. I think the pain is coming from the very back tooth but it could also be coming from the tooth in front of that one.

Previous to last week, I had no pain in this region and could chew on those teeth without any pain or problems. Since last week, whenever I try to chew on that side, those back teeth hurt and prevent me from chewing on that side.

I am now having to use the teeth on the left side and try not to put any pressure on the teeth on the right side because I am worried that the pressure will set the pain off again.

I have tried taking painkillers for a few days now but they don't seem to be doing anything for this toothache and I would like your advice as to what you think I should do?

Your teeth could be hurting because there maybe a tooth fracture present especially if the tooth in question is heavily filled. The pain could also be caused by end of root infection which also causes pain on bitting. Other problems such as gum problems can also cause pain on bitting.

I would recommend that you book to see our emergency dentist to assess your teeth and determine the cause of this pain and then it can be treated as necessary.
