    Question Implanting artificial tooth

My father is in his late sixties and he lost his front tooth due to gum disease. Earlier we considered that natural and didn’t pay any attention. Recently someone suggested him to go for dental implants. On carrying out research we found that it is process of implanting artificial tooth root in the jaw. But due to his increasing age we are worried if there are any side effects of the procedure that may cause further harm.

I want to know if this dental implant can be used as natural teeth. How do these implants fare in the future? Is it necessary to have a good oral health before carrying out the process? Is it the natural technology or make use of sophisticated tools? What are the future benefits of the technology?

Is it possible that the patient may face any further problem in the future after the dental implant is done? Are they as good as natural teeth and can do all the functions that natural teeth can do? How long do these implants survive? Do they need to be replaced after fixed span of time? What is the cost for the overall process? Are dental Implants as good as natural teeth?

    Default Implanting artificial tooth

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

To date dental implants is the closest thing to natural teeth that dentist can offer their patients to replacing missing teeth. It consist of a part which is the actual implant that is placed in the bone and on top of it the crown by means of an abutment is attached to the implant.

They are designed to last for long and if one follows all the necessary precaution after implant placement they should last for decades. Only the restoration on top of them may need replacing after several years. And yes to prolong the survival rate of an implant excellent oral hygiene is needed to minimize the risk of bone loss with the implants specially in people that are suffering from gum/periodontal disease.

Th length of procedure and the cost of implants all depends on whether there is enough bone present for implant placement and if there is not, how large is the deficiency in bone and what type of bone grafting is needed and cost mimics this pattern. All the individual costs and the prices are well published in our web site. To give you an accurate plan and cost we need to assess the case clinically which we would be very happy to for you.
