zirconium tooth implants

Hello

I have a front tooth that has become loose due to root fracture and infection and my dentist has recommend that the tooth should be removed and replaced with a denture and eventually an implant.

I have been doing a little research into dental implants and came across zirconium tooth implants which seem to be designed to be stronger then the normal titanium dental implants.

Apparently Straumann make part zirconium tooth implants called roxolid and I wonder in view of my current tooth root fracturing due to my high bite forces, do you think I would be better off having a zirconium tooth implant.

Thank you for your post. We need to assess your teeth to see what type of implant would be most suitable for your case.

Straumann Roxolid implants are great for when there is very little bone or space available for a standard size titanium implant. In those situations instead of using a smaller neck titanium implant, one could use a Roxolid implant which is stronger than a similar sized titanium implant.

As far as I know, Straumann Roxolid is still under trial but we do provide it for patients who clinically could benefit from it.
