I have several gaps in my mouth due to losing teeth because of past neglect. I would like to get dental implants to close these gaps and improve my chewing.

I have looked into implants but have read that sometimes if the teeth have been lost some time ago, bone grafting has to be done as well. Can you tell me roughly how long implant treatment takes if I have to have bone grafting as well.

There are many different types of bone graft materials that all have different properties and are treated differently.

If you have Guided Bone Regeneration consisting of Bio-Oss (bovine derived bone) and Bio-Gide, you may need to wait 6 months for bone to regenerate before you can have your implant placed.

If you have human donor irradiated bone block graft, you may need to wait 6-9 months for your own bone to regenerate, before an implant is placed.

If you have your own bone block graft, you may need to wait around 6 months, before an implant is placed.
