    Default Non-invasive dental implants

I have heard of non-invasive dental implants which utilize the smallest possible openings in gingival tissue. Each implant is positioned precisely in the centre of the opening, which eliminates major incisions and stitching, so the implants heal quickly. Does Pearl Dental Clinic provide non-invasive implants or conventional implants?

    Default Non-invasive dental implants

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

In general we use conventional methods to minimize the cost of the implants. But if one wishes to have non-invasive dental implants we can provide them also.

Other than cost, does the non-invasive treatment have any disadvantages over the conventional method? Will a bone graft still be required?

    Cool Non-invasive dental implants

Bone grafts are necessary where there is insufficient bone available for an implant to have stability. To assess the bone accurately dentists either do a cone beam CT scan or raise a surgical flap to check the bone clinically. If there is not enough bone available, then a bone graft is necessary for implant stability.

There are short mini implants available that in some cases do not require bone grafting but these are unlikely to last as long as conventional implants and their use in many implant cases is contraversial and for these reason we do not place mini implants at Pearl Dental Clinic.

How do non-invasive dental implants vary from conventional implants? Do they last as long? Can Straumann SLActive implants be fitted non-invasively?

    Wink Non-invasive dental implants

Non-invasive (no flap) dental implants generally speaking are suitable for cases where high aesthetic gum position is not very important (ie. as over-denture abutment implants).

Where gum aesthetics is important to patients, the gold standard treatment is conventional implants with a gum flap raised. As we are a cosmetic dental clinic, our implant work involves raising a gum flap.

Our implantologist is very skilled and he raises the minimum flap required for good aesthetic results and keeps inflammation and therefore post-operative pain to a minimum but at the same time he delivers far superior aesthetic results to the non-invasive (no flap) dental implants.

If you need to have an overdenture and wish to have non-invasive dental implants underneath your denture, please see him for a consultation as I believe he is very familiar with several other implant systems.
