Can I use an electric toothbrush after Implant placement?

I had an implant placed last month and since the implant was placed, I have been using a manual toothbrush rather than my usual electric toothbrush because I am worried that the electric brush vibrations could disturb the implant.

I woud like to know what type of toothbrush you would recommend for cleaning dental implants? Could I do my implant any damage by using an electric toothbrush or does it not make any difference.

Also can I floss around my implant as normal. I floss the rest of my teeth and was wondering if I can floss around my implant. Is there any possibility that the floss could remove the implant crown?

Thank you for your question.

One thing that you must do is to keep excellent oral hygiene for all your teeth specially you implant and certainly you must floss it and brush it. Build of plaque and calculus can cause the bone loss around your implant.

You can use electric of manual tooth brush for your implant exactly in the same way as you use for your teeth. The only thing that is not suitable for implants is ultrasonic debridement on implants. So you can use your electric toothbrush after implant is placed.
