    Arrow Are Dental implants safe?

    Hi

I have lost my lower front four teeth through gum disease and after a lot of gum treatment with a gum specialist, I was recently told that my gum disease is now under control and I could now have dental implants.

Until now I been wearing a hopeless flipper and I would be more than happy to see the back of that horrible thing. I wanted to know firstly if dental implants are safe? Could having dental implants create any problems for the rest of my mouth? Are there any risks involved with having dental implants?

I ask these questions, because I tend to have bad luck with things going wrong in my mouth, so I rather know the worst case scenarios now and prepare myself for the worst.

    Default Are Dental implants safe?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

Dental implants are very safe and there is 95-98% success rate in our practice with implant in a healthy non smoker. The only possible complication in your case would be that your good luck runs out and for a reason your gum disease becomes active without you being aware of it and under the care of a periodontist for early and quick diagnosis of it. In this case there is risk of loss of bone with the implants like your natural tooth.
