Question Uncomfortable dentures, will implants help?

    Hi

I have recently lost my last remaining teeth and my dentist made me a new top and bottom complete dentures after he took the remaining few teeth out.

The dentures are very uncomfortable and rub my gums and make them sore and I have no confidence that they will stay in when I am out socializing with people, I am always worried that they might fall out.

As I wear through out the day, my gums become very sore and I have got two gum boils already this week. I would like to know if I have dental implants, would I be able to have a set of teeth that stay in my mouth and not hurt my gums?

Default Uncomfortable dentures, will implants help?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

There is no doubt that the retention of implant retained dentures is far better than the soft tissue supported dentures which is what you currently have. Patients that have had implant retained dentures and have been able to compare it with the time when they did not have implants talk about a complete change in their life style. Their confidence is far better as they teeth do not come out when they are talking and the quality of their food, chewing and diet has completely change for the better. I do not think they will ever go back to the days of soft tissue supported dentures.
