    Red face Artificial teeth implants

    Hi

I have four missing teeth, two on each side of my bottom jaw. I lost all of them after they developed gum infections and became very loose. My dentist recommended removing them but my problem is that I find it hard to chew food as I have no teeth at the back of my mouth any more.

Could you tell me how I can go about getting artificial teeth perhaps implanted into the back of my mouth? I don't want to have the plates because my friend who has one, says that its difficult to get used to them?

Will an artificial tooth feel like a normal tooth or is it bigger and bulkier? Would I be able to chew food normally on an artificial tooth or do I need to eat softer food? How quickly can they be made and would I need a general anaesthetic for the procedure?

    Default Artificial teeth implants

    Hi,

    Thank you for your question.

Artificial teeth implant as you call it or implant tooth is very similar in nature to a natural tooth and feels very similar. It is the closest artificial thing to a natural tooth that we can provide our patients with. So in terms of feel and size and shape is almost the same as a natural tooth.

From your question it appears that you have periodontal disease which is the loss of boney support around the natural teeth. It is an irreversible process and once you loose your bone it will not return. Therefore you may have substantial bone loss in the back region of your jaw and may need bone grafting. You need to be seen and assessed by us .

all the procedure for implants such as placement and bonr grafting is done under local anaesthesia and not done under GA.
