    Question Allergy to Titanium

    Hello

I am allergic to titanium and this has been confirmed by my hospital consultant. I need some dental implants and I understand they are usually made from Titanium. I know I can tolerate Porcelain for example as I have some caps made in those materials in my mouth. Could I have porcelain Implants?

Are there any alternative materials to Titanium for Dental Implants?

    Wink Allergy to Titanium

    Thank you for your post.

Allergy to Titanium is very rare but if you have been tested and shown to have allergy to Titanium, then obviously we'll have to use another material.

An alternative to Titanium would be Zirconium implants. Zirconium integrates with bone pretty well and is also used as Crown cores without any problems.

The disadvantage is that Zirconium implant and crowns usually cost more than Titanium ones.
