Default Non metallic crown for dental implants

    Hi

I would like to have my upper front plate replaced with two dental implants. I have had this plate for over 2 years and want to have a change now. I know that dental implants have crowns put on top of them but I dont want the metallic crowns.

I used to have metallic crowns on those two front teeth before those teeth had to be replaced with a plate and the metal used to show when I smiled and some people used to comment why I dont get them replaced with something without the metal. I tried to have the two metal crowns replaced but unfortunately there was a problem with the roots of those teeth and they had to be removed due to infection.

Is is possible to have dental implants without the metallic crowns on top of them and perhaps with white crowns? Are the white crowns as strong as the metallic crowns and are there any risks in having white crowns on dental implants?

    Thank you for your post.

Zirconium based crowns can be used instead of metal ceramic crowns should you wish for your dental implants. Metal ceramic crowns have traditionally been used for implants but now increasingly we are using zirconium based crowns on anterior implants. Zirconium is not as strong as traditional metal based crowns but looks more tooth coloured.
