Wink Maryland bridge keeps coming off

    Hi

I recently had a dental implant placed to replace my lost front tooth and the dentist as an interim solution, fitted a maryland bridge which I am supposed to have for the next four months to allow my implant to heal fully. Unfortunately the maryland bridge has come off twice in the past two weeks and left me in an embarrassing situation having to find an emergency dentist on one occasion. I don't want to keep going back to see dentists to glue this bridge back in, is there a dental solution that could stay in my mouth rigidly and not come off every few days?

Red face Maryland bridge keeps coming off

Maryland bridges are prone to debonds especially if the occlusion is not favourable. Sometimes when they are made as a temporary measure, there is a temptation not to do any tooth shaving for them and this can result in difficulties with the occlusion and frequent debonds due to lack of bite space.

As a temporary measure, your alterantive options are either a removable denture which may/may not be to your satisfaction. Also you can opt to have an essix retainer bridge which is a great temporary measure for replacing a tooth as a temporary measure without any need for tooth shaving. An Essix retainer is a clear retainer usually used to maintain teeth position after orthodontic treatment but a false tooth can be added to it and used as a temporary bridge for several months.
