not enough space for a dental implant

I lost a back tooth a few years ago and I always planned to get it replaced with a dental implant. Recently when I enquired about getting a dental implant to replace that missing tooth, my dentist mentioned that due to the top tooth moving downwards into the gap and the surrounding teeth shifting a bit into the space, there is not enough space for a dental implant. I dont wish to have a bridge or a denture and I find that food is always getting stuck in this gap. My own dentist says that I should just accept the gap as it is. Is there still a way of getting a dental implant into this gap?

If there is not enough space for a dental implant because neighbouring teeth have over-erupted or tilted into a gap, then the only way to recreate space would be to do orthodontic treatment with braces.

Not having enough space at present, does not mean you can not have dental implants but it does mean you will have to invest time and money in regaining that space first with braces.
