Can a tooth be removed and a dental implant be placed on the same visit?

I have a loose tooth that has lost a lot of bone due to gum disease and my dentist has recommended that I have it replaced with a dental implant. I have been to see a dentist that places implants in hungary and he has recommended to have the tooth removed and a dental implant placed at the same visit. I have been doing some reading about this and apparently teeth have to be removed first and left to heal before an implant is placed. Is it possible to remove a tooth and place an implant straight away?

In a few circumstances a dental implant can be placed immediately after a tooth extraction. However in a case of a tooth where there is a lot of bone loss, we may well have to buildup the bone first with a bone graft and place an implant later once bone growth has occurred.

Immediately placing implants after an extraction, is not something that we do routinely and we save it for a few occasions where we can be sure it could be successful.
