What are the benefits of dental implants?

Hi sir

I have a few remaining teeth which are in quite a bad shape and my dentist has recommended that I have them all removed and think of replacing them either with dentures or dental implants. Based on what he has quoted, there seems to be a great cost difference between dental implants (£20K) and dentures (£2K). Although I know that dental implants are fixed and dentures come out, I am not sure if there are any other benefits in going for dental implants and spending so much more money. Could you tell me if there are any other benefits in going for dental implants as apposed to full dentures.

Benefits of dental implants over full dentures are as follows:

1. Implants are fixed in your jaw and help to retain a denture or a bridge far better than the natural retention on a full denture and so you would not need to use denture adhesive for retention.

2. The presence of dental implants in the jaw helps to preserve the bone in that jaw. Without teeth or implants, that bone may resorb.

3. An implant retained bridge is much smaller than a full denture and so feels more natural in your mouth and does not cover the roof of your mouth, allowing you to have more taste sensation from the roof of your mouth.
