How long will it take for my gums to turn pink after implant crown fit?

My dentist fitted an implant crown on my dental implant last week and after I left the surgery I noticed that the gum around the implant crown was very white and painful as compared to my other gums which are very pink. Now almost a week on, the gum is still very white and I am worried that something is going wrong with the gum around my implant. Could you tell me what I can do to make my gum pink again? Is there any medication which can be applied or perhaps a mouthwash that I can use. Please help.

The gum around an implant crown should turn back pink very soon after crown is fitted to an implant. Initially when its fitted, a bit of blanching is normal but this should turn back to pink. If blanching persists, the gum may recede and this could create aesthetic problems for you.

You need to go back to see your dentist and he may have to reshape the implant crown near the gum margin.
