Lightbulb Why cant I have a same day implant?

    Hello

I saw Dejan for a consultation last week and he told me that I will need an Implant to replace one of my teeth because the tooth is broken down.

He said that I will need to wait 6-8 weeks after the tooth extraction before I could have an Implant placed. I forgot to ask him why that is, could you explain to me why I cant have an extraction of my tooth and then a same day implant?

    Post Same day implant

Implant placement immediately after an extraction should only be carried out when one is sure that there is no infection in the area and that primary stability can be achieved for the implant placed.

Many teeth that are removed have chronic apical infection and this could have an adverse effect on the implant if an immediate implant is placed.

Also after extractions, the extraction socket is very wide and open and its very difficult to achieve primary stability for any implant placed into the bone there.

Ideally one should wait 6-8 weeks after extractions before placing the implant so that any infection present could clear up and the implant could have good primary stability.
