    Red face New Implants..

    Thank you for your post.

In cases where there is bone missing, there is likely to be missing gum as well and in these situations sometimes some pink porcelain is used to cover the gaps and give the appearance of gum. From a functional point of view, using pink porcelain is not a problem.

However if you have a high smile line, this pink porcelain will obviously show and if it doesn't match the rest of your gum in colour, it might become an aesthetic concern to you.

With regards to gaps below the bridge teeth, if these gaps are trapping plaque and difficult for you to clean, then you need to speak to your implantologist regarding the gaps.

Did you have a temporary bridge fitted for a while? Sometimes fitting a temporary bridge for a while helps to shape the gum up a little and helps with reducing gaps beneath the permanent bridge.

Thankyou so much for your reply Dr Esfahani..is had put my mind at rest regarding the pink porcelain..I never had a temporary fitted I just wore a denture for 6 months which was really badly fitted..its just before I say anything to my dentist I wasnt sure if I was expecting to much..when I talk the air goes through the gaps is that normal..and you can see small holes between the gum and the implant..hope I dont sound too fussy!? x

    Smile New Implants..

I cant comment on work that I have not seen that would not be fair. I would recommend that you speak to your dentist first and let him your concerns. If still not satisfied, you can always see another dentist for a second opinion. Usually its possible to replace a bridge if needed without too much problem.
