Flexible Dentures

A more comfortable and smaller alternative to acrylic dentures is the flexible denture. This denture uses advanced technology to fit around the shape of existing teeth and gums in a comfortable and flexible way.

What are Flexible dentures?

Flexible dentures could be the perfect solution for an individual who has lost one or more of their natural teeth. This natural replacement of missing teeth can have a profound effect on the appearance and overall well-being of an individual.

What are the advantages of Flexible dentures?

  • flexible denturesFlexible dentures are more compact and do not cover the roof or floor of the mouth to the same extent as plastic dentures do and so cause less difficulties with eating and speaking.
  • Flexible dentures also provide a more cosmetic solution for patients. The material used to create the fixture is transparent and blends in with the natural gum colour in the mouth. Tooth coloured clasps replace the unsightly metal clasps of traditional dentures.
  • Flexible dentures are far more resilient than plastic acrylic dentures and far less likely to fracture.

What are Valplast dentures?

Valplast dentures are a brand of flexible dentures which like other flexible dentures are made from nylon. This type of material is ideal for use as a partial denture as it is unbreakable. The biocompatible nylon thermoplastic denture has physical and aesthetic properties to allow a patient’s natural gum tissue colour to appear through the material.

How can one get a Flexible denture?

During the initial denture consultation, our dentists will ensure this type of treatment is suited to the lifestyle and dental needs of the patient. They will then take impressions of the patient’s jaws and teeth. These impressions will be sent to the laboratory for construction of the device. The laboratory constructs the flexible denture and returns it back to the clinic for adjustments and final fitting.

At Pearl Dental Clinic we have an on-site denture technician which means we can make express custom-made dentures 7 days a week.

Are there any alternative treatments to Flexible dentures?

Metal dentures are a good removable alternative to flexible dentures. Fixed alternative options include dental implants and dental bridges.

Dental implants give the impression of natural tooth by installing a permanent titanium fixture into the jawbone.

Dental bridges are a form of fixed restoration used to replace a missing tooth by attaching to adjacent teeth.
