Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers represent a non surgical way to address this issue of facial volume loss, filling the void under the skin and erasing creases. The results are a natural, more youthful look, with softer facial contours and a healthier appearance. The newest and safest dermal filler is Hyaluronic Acid (H.A). It is injected not only to fill lines (e.g. Laughter lines and Marionette lines) but to also volumize and to re-establish the youthful contour of the skin.
Juvederm dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers applied under the skin to smooth away wrinkles and fill up specific facial areas. Hyaluronic acid fillers are similar to collagen but last longer (upto 12 months) and do not require skin testing for allergies. Juvederm is made by Allergan, a well respected company that is also the makers of Botox. Juvederm Dermal Fillers are FDA-approved.
Juvederm dermal fillers represent a significant advancement in Dermal Fillers. They are naturally modified forms of Hyaluronic acid. They have an enormous safety record and are a non-animal product without any organic solvents.
The advantage of Juvederm dermal fillers is that they naturally attract water molecules and hydrate the skin by holding in water and acting as a cushioning agent. This is what gives a smoother, healthier glow to the skin and creates a filling effect long after the actual Juvederm filler is injected. Juvederm fillers are placed slightly deeper into the skin because they are thicker and last longer.
Juvederm dermal fillers require less volume to fill wrinkles and hard to treat skin folds. Juvederm is great for actual folds in the skin and deeper crevices, such as the nasolabial folds and marionette folds that extend downward from the corners of the mouth.
We use Dermal Fillers for:
- Nasolabial folds - these lines are formed by smiling and deepen with age. Juvederm can make them virtually disappear!
- Marionette folds - these lines go down from the corners of the mouth
- Other folds - deep frown furrows, smoker’s lines, chin lines, etc.
How are Dermal Fillers injected?
- To minimize discomfort, Lignocaine anaesthetic cream is used topically to numb the areas being treated before dermal filler treatment begins.
- An ultra fine tiny needle is used to inject small amounts of the Juvederm filler into the mid to deep dermis. There is minimal discomfort and wrinkles and folds are plumped up instantaneously. Juvederm treatment time takes around 15 minutes.
- After treatment with Juvederm, results can be seen immediately. Patients resume normal activity immediately. Effects can last approximately up to 12 months in some cases. The treatment may be repeated as desired.
What is recovery like after Juvederm injections?
There is typically no down time with Juvederm dermal filling although patients may experience mild swelling, redness and/or throbbing in the injection sites. This can be controlled by applying ice and usually lasts no more than 24 hours. Patients may resume all normal activity immediately following the injections.
Who shouldn’t be treated with the Juvederm Dermal Fillers?
There is no upper or lower age limit for anti-ageing treatment with the Juvederm range of products (except for children), but those patients with very thin skin will need different treatment than those with thicker skin. Juvederm is a colourless gel injected into the skin. We will be able to advise you on whether you are well-suited for treatment, and which product is best for which area of your face.
How much does Juvederm treatment cost?
Pricing depends on the amount of Juvederm product needed to adequately treat the desired areas and therefore varies from case to case. We will assess your wishes and let you know how many Juvederm vials are required for your case. Typically each Juvederm vial costs £199 to administer and each vial may be able to do more than one facial area depending on the size of the area.
