Mother performs teeth whitening on 9-year-old daughterA mother in the US has performed teeth whitening on her children as part of the TLC reality TV show Toddlers & Tiaras.

Hollywood Life blogger Chloe noted that the programme depicted mother Lori applying teeth whitening gels to her children's teeth in order to make them whiter ahead of a beauty pageant.

She wrote: "This may sounds a bit extreme but I don't think Lori bleaching her daughter Alaska, 9, and son Braxton's, 5, teeth is okay."

The reporter went on to note that she also made her children dye their eyebrows.

Meanwhile, a mother who gave her eight-year-old daughter Botox treatments ahead of a children's beauty pageant has said she is now beginning to understand that it is not acceptable.

After meeting with the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services, Sheena Upton admitted the error of her ways, but she will still be under investigation by the authority for the next six months.ADNFCR-2621-ID-800607802-ADNFCR

Grooms in India ‘are having more Botox’

Thu

Botox helps some Indian grooms look good in their wedding portraits. A growing number of grooms in India are opting to have Botox, a trend that could soon spread across the globe.

Dr Mohan Thomas, a senior cosmetic surgeon in the south-east Asian country, told Daily News and Analysis that men about to get married now want as much TLC as their brides in a bid to look good on the wedding photographs.

"Grooms are booking all kinds of treatments in advance as they want to be ready for their big day," he said, citing Botox, body contouring and rhinoplasty as being popular procedures.

Sometimes, other male members of the wedding party have treatment too, Dr Thomas said, adding that fathers of the groom like to be told they look as young as their sons.

In September 2010, clinical adviser Jackie Smith, who practises in New Zealand, told the New Zealand Herald she is seeing more and more men from all walks of life having Botox to keep the ageing process at bay.
