Rylan Clark calls out critics of his dental veneers

Former X-Factor contestant Rylan Clark has spoken to Mirror TV about his new found fame as presenter of Big Brother spin-off Bit On The Side and he seems to be enjoying the confidence it has brought him. The 26-year-old admits that he is not afraid to speak his mind when people criticise him and says that he took a lot of stick from the public after his stint on the X-Factor talent show – particularly for the dazzling veneers that he had put in last year.

Rylan told the publication ‘If anyone abuses me, I’ll have it out. I’m done with all that now. I paid that price when I came off X-Factor, I took, took, took.’ After winning Celebrity Big Brother, Rylan was offered the chance to co-host a spin-off of the reality show and he has chosen to ignore negativity that might reach him via social networking sites like Twitter.

He might get some abuse from Twitter followers about his veneers but Rylan has no regrets, saying ‘I’m glad I did my teeth. I had my teeth done the day I started presenting Big Brother and back then I couldn’t present a show for nothing, but everyone was talking about the teeth so no-one thought I was a crap presenter!’ He also joked that people comment that ‘his new teeth look so much better’ when he hasn’t changed them since they were first placed.

X-Factor winner reveals she wants to get her teeth fixed

Last year’s X-Factor champion James Arthur recently got braces to straighten out his misaligned teeth and now it seems that the latest victor has decided to follow suit. Newly crowned X-Factor winner Sam Bailey underwent a startling makeover to take part in the live shows, and now she has spoken to The Mirror about the presents she would like for Christmas this year, which includes an improvement to her signature gap-toothed smile.

Bailey – nicknamed ‘Screwbo’ in reference to her job as a prison officer and the Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle – said that although she was pleased with the changes to her hair and make-up, she had not ruled out seeing an orthodontist to get her teeth fixed. She said ‘I won’t be getting face lifts or plastic surgery. But I’ll probably get some teeth fixed. But that’s it; let nature take its course.’

As well as new champion Sam Bailey and last year’s winner James Arthur, X-Factor has done more than its fair share of advertising for dental work, with previous contestant Rylan Clark and former judges Cheryl Cole and Tulisa Contostavlos showing off the results of their veneer treatment in recent years.

Rylan Clark hits back at critics about new teeth

He has had his fair share of criticism after debuting his new set of blindingly white veneers on Channel 5 reality show Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, but now singer-turned-presenter Rylan Clark has hit back at his critics, claiming that ‘half of them haven’t even got a tooth in their heads.’

The new TV host spoke to the ladies on ITV show Loose Women and said that he had suffered ‘a lot of stick’ about his teeth in the past and was feeling more confident with his new veneers, especially since they have become so popular they now have their own Twitter page.

Rylan looked like a completely different person at the Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards this week and certainly turned heads on the carpet. Although the photographers were keen to get pictures of the over-the-top dental work, Clark defended the appearance of his teeth, saying ‘They are white but you know what… it’s something I wanted done. I was in a position to get them done. I like them and at the end of the day, the people that have been piping up about my teeth, half of them haven’t even got a tooth in their heads!’ He also mentioned the confidence boost the Twitter page has given him, saying ‘I know I’ve done well as my teeth have got their own Twitter page! Cheers for that, guys! I appreciate it.’

Rylan Clark thinks his teeth are more famous than him

After he revealed his new dental work to the Big Brother audience last month, presenter Rylan Clark has commented that his teeth are becoming more famous than him, as they have been trending on Twitter recently. The blindingly white veneers gained so much attention that many viewers were distracted by them while watching the Big Brother spin-off show Bit On The Side.

Viewers and Twitter followers were quick to comment on the obvious changes, but Rylan did not seem too perturbed by public opinion, and now he is thrilled that his teeth have become a popular topic of conversation – mainly because it has drawn attention away from his presenting debut. The 24-year-old told new! magazine that his teeth were trending on Twitter for four hours after his first night presenting the show, and added ‘the best thing was that people were so worried about my teeth, not one person said I’m a s*** presenter, so I’m over the moon.’

Despite the new dental work, Rylan has admitted that he is still not happy with the way he looks and often becomes depressed over his appearance. He added ‘I’m going to be brutally honest, I’ve never been so depressed in my life. I don’t like the way I look. I’m not happy with a lot of stuff at the moment. I just look at myself and think ‘I’m not attractive,’ that’s why I’m changing everything now.’

Rylan Clark shows off new veneers on BB sideshow

Former X-factor contestant Rylan Clark has revealed his new dental veneers on Big Brother spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit On The Side which is on Channel 5 daily. The Essex native showed-off his blindingly white teeth as he began his new job presenting the programme, which follows reality show Big Brother, now in its fourteenth series.

Not long ago, Rylan was tweeting fans about his dental treatment and kept followers informed about the progress with his veneers, and viewers were online within seconds of his presenting debut, to talk about the bright shade of tooth he has gone for – even comparing him to TOWIE star Chloe Sims, who is notorious for her blinding veneers. Ross from American sitcom Friends was also mentioned; in reference to the episode where he gets his teeth bleached and the results are unexpected.

Despite people poking fun at his new appearance, Rylan took the jokes in good humour, tweeting ‘When your teeth have their own twitter accounts, you know you’ve made it’ and ‘Newsflash! My teeth will be fronting new BB show ‘Bit On The Big Side’ coming soon… #onlyjoking.’ He later posted a picture of himself gesturing to the camera and added the caption ‘Such an amazing night! And for those piping up about my teeth, this ones for you, enjoy! X.’

X-Factor star suffers dental problems

Former X-Factor contestant Rylan Clark has been tweeting his fans and followers to let them know how his recent dental treatment has been going; after having some work done on his teeth, it seems that the temporary veneer designed to protect them has fallen out.

When having veneers fitted, it is common practice to fit a temporary resin veneer to protect the teeth while the porcelain veneers are being manufactured – although it is not supposed to come loose before the second appointment is arranged. Rylan even tweeted a picture of the veneer after it came out, with the comment ‘Drama… My temporary teeth have fallen out… NOT a good look.’

He also added ‘I looking like a gummy bear!!!!! #teethdramas!’

It seems that the Essex native is hoping to improve his teeth for his upcoming presenting job with Channel 5; Rylan is replacing former host Emma Willis on Big Brother spin-off Bit On The Side, as she has moved to the main show. Aside from his dental problems, Rylan is feeling positive about the move, saying ‘I have followed the show since the very beginning. It was a dream come true to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house this year, let alone win it. Being offered the job to present Big Brother’s Bit On The Side was amazing.’

X-Factor contestant discusses cosmetic treatment in Big Brother house

Former X-Factor contestant Rylan Clark set tongues wagging when he entered the singing competition and admitted that he was ‘obsessed’ with his looks; now he’s proving to be anything but shy in the Celebrity Big Brother house as he talks about his quest for perfection with the other housemates.

The 24-year-old admitted he spends a large chunk of his income on cosmetics and other facial treatments, saying ‘I’ve had Botox and had my lips done. I am really obsessed with my image.’ He also added that he has had dental veneers fitted and filler injections after suffering bullying when he was growing up that caused him to develop low self-esteem.

According to media sources, Rylan is set to earn £250,000 over the next year, so he should have plenty of spare change to spend on his surgical treatment. He even told fellow CBB contestant Claire Richards – of Steps fame – that he was thinking about getting abs surgically created on his stomach, after seeing the results on another Big Brother contestant, photographer and tabloid journalist Darryn Lyons. He also spoke to Now magazine about his intentions, saying ‘I’ve got a little belly and I really want to tone up, but I don’t want to be one of those skinny people. I might have some pecs put in, like Darryn’s.’

X-Factor wannabe turns to Botox to fight bullies

His audition was one of the more memorable moments on Saturday nights X-Factor, when he turned Des’Ree’s hit Kissing You into a dance song, but wannabe star Rylan Clark has revealed that he wasn’t always so confident; he was so badly bullied as a teenager, that he now turns to cosmetic treatments to try and feel better about his appearance.

After a difficult adolescence, where one attack left him with a fractured skull, Rylan now spends a large amount of his wages on Botox, make-up, and fake tan, to change the way he looks. ‘I was the fat, ginger kid at school’, he said, ‘The bullying was bad. It affected my education. I got pulled off a swing and some boy kicked me in the head and fractured my skull.’

The 23-year-old puts the attacks down to homophobic bullying and he says he still experiences it to some degree when he is out and about; as a result of his difficult teen years, Rylan now spends a lot of time and money on altering his looks. ‘I am really obsessed with my image. I’ve had Botox and had my lips done. I probably spend two thirds of my wages on cosmetics. I won’t stop until I am the perfect man. I’m working as hard on my voice as my image now.’
