Mary Berry reiterates her stance on Botox and cosmetic treatment

The Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry has said no to Botox in the past and the 79-year-old has reiterated that opinion in a recent interview with the Radio Times magazine. The well-known cook says that she has not been tempted to go under the knife after the baking show brought her more media attention than she has been used to.

Mary was asked about the prospect of facial injections and replied ‘Botox? No, no. I think surgeons should be saving lives rather than pulling faces about. But I do think about what I look like now, whereas before I didn’t, unless I was going out to a party.’ She went on to say that she does not think about her appearance too much while she’s at home but felt some pressure to make the effort in public. Mary told the publication ‘Although I dress for my age… I can’t wear short sleeves… because of… what do you call it? Bat wings? (bingo wings).’

Talking about the upcoming fifth series of the hit show, Mary compared the successful Bake Off to other cooking programmes, saying that competing shows don’t seem to have been as fair in comparison. She said ‘We get no pressure from the BBC to say, ‘We need someone from Scotland to win.’ Nobody does that. We make the decisions. I often look at other cooking programmes and it doesn’t seem that way.’

Simon Cowell surprises audience with his appearance

He has never been shy about discussing his love of Botox, but TV mogul Simon Cowell has surprised his fans and critics alike with his appearance at a recent press event in LA. The 54-year-old displayed a completely smooth forehead and pulled some strange expressions as he spoke to the press at the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe launch on Tuesday.

The X-Factor judge’s dazzlingly veneers were also on display to complete the bizarre picture. Back in April, Simon spoke to the Radio Times about his beauty regime, saying ‘I work out three or four times a week, I have Botox, take tons of vitamins and vitamin infusions – if you believe that these things work, you’ll feel better.’

Although he might like Botox, Cowell has denied that he has had any cosmetic work done and was not forthcoming about rumours of a face lift while filming reality show Britain’s Got Talent. A source from backstage told MailOnline that ‘Simon had overdone things a little with the Botox and it soon showed up on camera – especially as we film in high definition, which is particularly unforgiving. During the break between shows, the producers were quick to change the lighting over the judging panel, Simon was not happy.’

Simon Cowell reveals his beauty regime

X-Factor mogul Simon Cowell has revealed his extensive beauty regime that he carries out daily to try and fight the signs of aging and retain a youthful appearance. The 53-year-old spoke to the Radio Times about his routine, as he continues to split his time between London and LA, filming both Britain’s Got Talent and the US version of The X-Factor.

As well as doing hundreds of press-ups a day, Simon admits to using Botox regularly and taking lemon baths to soften and perfume his skin, and also taking vitamin injections administered by a nurse. The multi-millionaire goes to extraordinary lengths to try and stay young and when interviewed by newsreader Emily Maitlis, he said that the rumours were ‘all true’, adding that ‘not 500 push-ups, but several hundred.’

He went on to say ‘I work out three or four times a week, I have Botox, take tons of vitamins and vitamin infusions – if you believe that these things work, you will feel better.’ The talent judge is connected to an intravenous drip for half an hour to take in daily vitamin injections, which are a combination of B12, magnesium, and vitamin C.

The interview also reveals that Simon works to what he calls ‘vampire hours’, whereby he goes to bed at around 5am and doesn’t start his working day until after 3pm.

X Factor judge in new advertising row

X Factor panellist Tulisa Contostavlos is courting controversy yet again over her brazen promoting antics, and this time it’s her new smile raising concerns among media watchdogs. The singer was fitted with a set of dental veneers in March, and has recently taken to Twitter to shamelessly advertise the services of dentist Dr David Bloom, who runs a practice in Watford, Hertfordshire.

Seemingly unperturbed by the similar furore that surrounded her when she was accused of plugging her perfume on the live X Factor shows, Tulisa spoke to the Radio Times about her veneers, admitting that she was getting a lot of free merchandise and services, even though she has the money to afford them. However, it’s her social networking that could really get her into trouble with the Office of Fair Trading, the 23-year-old publicised her treatment via Twitter back in March, mentioning the dental firm and dentist no less than four times, and the clinic even has a before and after picture of the X Factor judge on their website, with a quote from her saying ‘Thanks guys, I love them.’

The veneers are said to have cost £12,000, but rumour has it that no money changed hands, something that the OFT aren’t going to be happy with; celebrities aren’t allowed to endorse goods or services without making it clear how they were paid for. In another tweet several weeks after debuting the new look, Tulisa let everyone know how happy she was with her veneers, saying ‘Every1 keeps asking me about my new teeth & who did them, so here goes @drdavidbloom @senovadental, their [they’re] amazing so happy.’
