Gazza says Botox injections have replaced booze
Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has revealed he has put drink and drug abuse behind him in favour of a healthier lifestyle – which includes regular Botox injections to reduce some of the damage those bad habits caused. As well as working out every day and eating healthier, the 45-year-old told The Times magazine that he was indulging in a little cosmetic surgery, saying in typical Geordie fashion; ‘Aye, I have had that Botox now and again, nowt wrong with that.’
Gazza went on to talk about other changes he has made, including an early morning workout, rather than hair of the dog first thing; ‘I remember the days when I had a bottle of gin in me hand at 7’o’clock – if I’ve got a weight in me hand, it’s a lot better,’ he admits. After a troubled past, the former striker is hoping to get back on track with his love life too, but it’s not been easy as most women associate him with the drunken lout who caused his own marriage to very publicly implode due to drugs and physical abuse. In an effort to get back in control of his life, Gazza has relocated to Bournemouth and is undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction, spending most mornings with his counsellor Steven and the rest of the patients at the Providence Projects centre.
Gascoigne is also taking part in the Faces of England campaign for Umbro, suppliers of the England football kit which celebrates icons of the team past and present.
