67% of people would be put off dating someone if they had bad teeth

Although most people do not add ‘must have good teeth’ to their preferences for online dates, a new study has revealed that the vast majority of daters would be put off if they met someone for the first time and they had a ‘bad’ set of teeth.

According to a website survey, a massive 67% of people on the dating scene would decline a second date with someone who had bad teeth – with 76% of women agreeing that stained or crooked teeth were a deal breaker for them on a first date. However, their male counterparts were less picky; only 57% of men asked were in agreement. conducted the survey and revealed that some people have strange ideas about the state of our teeth – with 4% of respondents admitting they assume someone is intelligent if they have straight teeth, and 12% linking good teeth with popularity.

When it comes to the celebrity smiles, The Duchess of Cambridge topped the poll with 35% of the votes and actress Julia Roberts came in second, closely followed by Jessica Alba – who, incidentally, came top of the charts for the male voters.

Julia Roberts puts her white smile down to her grandfather’s advice

A-list star Julia Roberts is well known for her dazzling smile and she has finally revealed what keeps her teeth in such great condition; baking soda. The actress told InStyle magazine this month that she has been brushing her teeth with the household product since she was a child, thanks to the advice of her grandfather, who used baking soda regularly to keep his teeth looking white.

Baking soda is a natural abrasive that will scrub away surface stains and keep the teeth sparkly and white – however, using it in high amounts every day could do more harm than good, scrubbing away some of the enamel and leaving the teeth open to sensitivity.

The mother-of-three told the magazine that her grandfather ‘would put a big heaping mound of it on his toothbrush. He had only one cavity in his entire life. Sometimes that’s all I do as far as regime goes.’ Some tooth cleaning products contain baking soda in very tiny amounts, which is thought to be better for the teeth rather than piling it onto the toothbrush straight out of the packet.

Whilst critics are divided on such high usage of the product, Julia’s advice will no doubt see sales of baking soda, and toothpastes that contain it, skyrocket as women all over the country attempt to replicate the star’s megawatt smile.

Julia Roberts talks Botox ahead of new film release

With the new Snow White adaptation ‘Mirror Mirror’ hitting cinemas this week, Julia Roberts must be getting used to questions about her appearance, and she’s opened up to Access Hollywood about her feelings on Botox and cosmetic surgery. The 44-year-old plays the evil queen in the latest reworking of the classic fairy-tale, a character who is obsessed with staying young and looking beautiful.

Although Julia has admitted to using Botox in the past, she revealed on the US TV show that she didn’t want to jeopardise her relationship with her children by overindulging; ‘ My feeling is I have three children who should know what emotion I’m feeling at the exact moment I’m feeling it… that is critical.’ The actress has Henry, 4, and twins Hazel and Phinneaus, 7, with husband Danny Moder.

Oscar-winner Roberts also commented that she wasn’t against people having cosmetic surgery to try and boost their self-esteem, joking that it wasn’t up to her to judge anyone who ‘can’t turn their head or move their lips.’ Having had facial injections earlier in her career, it now seems that motherhood has altered Julia’s priorities; she commented that, ‘As a mother, it’s whatever works for the person. I don’t know – if you want your chin on your forehead I’m not one to [judge]. If that’s going to bring you joy, I’m all for it.’

Could Emma Roberts be a candidate for invisible braces?

: Could Emma Roberts be a future candidate for invisible braces? Emma Roberts, the niece of Julia Roberts, could be a candidate for invisible braces in future.

In an interview with Women's Health magazine, she drew attention to her "really crooked teeth", which she said she doesn't mind too much at the moment because they "give me character".

However, the Scream 4 performer added: "We Robertses have too many teeth for our mouths."

This could cause problems in the future when her wisdom teeth erupt, as it may act to push the other teeth further out of alignment.

Should this happen, Roberts' dentist may suggest invisible braces to realign them again.

Justin Bieber recently admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that he has been wearing invisible braces.

He explained that he had to have some teeth removed that were pointing inwards, but this created a gap that is now being closed with the aligners. He wears them every day apart from when he is eating and brushing.
