Doctors in the US have been speaking out in praise of Botox after the drug was approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
A range of experts told the New York Daily News that they have used it to treat numerous medical conditions rather than simply facial problems.
Dr Noah Rosen explained Botox has helped him to treat patients with involuntary tics around the eye area, as well as people who have had strokes.
Meanwhile, Dr Peter McAllister told the newspaper he has applied it with success to patients suffering from bladder spasms.
Dr Craig Vander Kolk commented: "You can't quite call it a miracle drug but it is an amazing medication. It does things to smooth muscles that help many conditions … it has changed things a lot for people."
In August 2010, Happy Days actor Henry Winkler told the Express he wished Botox had been invented when his mother was still alive, as he is sure it could have helped her with the after-effects of a stroke.
