Bride to be spent £15,000 on cosmetic surgery before she would wed

Tue

Penelope Burkitt, a make-up artist from Bristol, met the love of her life, Karl, at the clinic where she worked as a receptionist back in 2011. Karl had attended the clinic to undergo a hair transplant procedure and there was an instant attraction. After his treatment had finished Penelope added him on Facebook and invited him out on a date.

After dating for a year Karl asked Penelope to move in with him, however she said she would prefer to be married before they lived together, to which he agreed. This was when Penelope dropped the bombshell that she could not be married to him until she had undergone cosmetic surgery.

Speaking to the Bristol Post, Penelope admitted that she had always felt insecure and self-conscious about her face and has told her daughters in the past that, “they need to grow up and become successful because then you can buy mummy a facelift.” She went on to say that following her stipulations about the wedding, even though Karl was not happy about the surgery, a few days later he revealed that he would pay for the procedure. Penelope also has Botox every few months to keep her lines and wrinkles at bay. The couple are now happily married.

Popstar Toyah Wilcox says British film companies don’t allow Botox

Fri
Eighties superstar Toyah might be 58-years-old but she doesn’t let that slow her down and she will be back on our screens in a follow-up to cult classic Quadrophenia soon. In a recent interview she talks about the upcoming film and also mentions that British film companies won’t allow performers to have Botox injections – even insisting on a clause in their contracts.
In an interview with The Mirror, the pint-sized popstar admitted to having a facelift a decade ago after suffering cruel comments following an appearance on a TV chat show but she says she has not had Botox injections due to her work commitments. Toyah told the paper that it is ‘insisted’ upon by film companies so that actors and actresses are able to move their faces.
Despite the agreements companies make with performers, Toyah explains that some people still dabble with facial injections but have good quality work done so that no one can tell that there has been cosmetic work carried out. It seems that Toyah is put off by American performers who have had too much work done and can’t move their faces to form expressions.

Botox ‘cheaper than a face lift’

Mon

Cosmetic surgery can be expensive compared to Botox.

People wishing to look youthful but without the pain and cost of cosmetic surgery have been advised that Botox injections could be the best solution.

Harry Heiti wrote in a blog post for Official Spin that Botox can provide instant results and does not lead to scarring, as facelifts often do.

Indeed, the process of Botox treatment is much faster than a facelift, as in many cases it can be carried out in under an hour. It also does not require anaesthesia and is a much less risky procedure.

It also provides targeted results that can tackle specific areas and wrinkles.

One drawback of the treatment, however, is that it is not a permanent solution, but the effects of injections can often last up to six months or beyond.

Elsewhere, the Washington Post recently reported Botox injections could have a range of treatment possibilities to improve the health of people suffering from a range of conditions.
