James Corden gets fitted with false teeth for new screen role

Thu

Comedian James Corden is preparing for his new role as a talent show winner by testing out at least six different sets of false teeth and spending hours in the dentist’s chair in an effort to get the look just right. His character, opera singer Paul Potts, won the first series of Britain’s Got Talent and performed at the Royal Variety Performance the following year; he has since seen phenomenal success and has toured the world, playing to crowds of thousands.

Movie heavyweight Harvey Weinstein is producing the film, entitled One Chance, and he was determined that James would look the part by applying false teeth so that Paul’s easily recognisable crossed front teeth matched perfectly. A source spoke to The Sun newspaper about the actor’s commitment to the role, saying ‘James spent six hours in the dentist’s chair at Ealing Studios with an army of people chipping in. The full make-up and wardrobe team had a say, with the director, producers and exec producers offering their thoughts. He filmed a full camera test ahead of filming, kicking off next week. It’s such a key part of the project to get right.’

The film is written and directed by David Frankel, who worked on The Devil Wears Prada and it documents Paul Potts rise to stardom after moving from a phone salesman to a worldwide singing sensation.
