Michelle Keegan doesn’t rule out Botox injections in the future

Fri

She might not have any problems in the looks department right now, but Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan is prepared to undergo Botox injections to keep aging lines and wrinkles at bay as she gets older. The 27-year-old – whose final scenes at character Tina McIntyre aired this week – spoke to New! magazine about the possibility of getting anti-aging injections to maintain her youthful appearance.

Ms Keegan told the magazine that she didn’t see anything wrong with the treatment but she is wary of having too much work done as her job as an actress requires facial movement and visible emotion – something that might be affected if she were to have too much Botox injected. She explained that ‘it gets picked up on screen and you need emotion in your face. But you never know further down the line.’

Newly-engaged Michelle also talks about her fiancé’s daily routine and how long he takes to get ready; according to the soap actress, Mark is ‘very laid back’ about his appearance and only takes ten minutes to get ready, despite the public perception that he is ‘really preened.’ Michelle added that she doesn’t mind ‘men looking after themselves’ but she prefers ‘a man to be a man!’

Helen Flanagan’s ‘obsessive’ dental hygiene leads to problems with her teeth

Tue

I’m A Celebrity contestant Helen Flanagan has admitted that she brushes her teeth more often than necessary and was surprised to find that this is actually doing more harm than good. Due to her smoking, the former Coronation Street actress is said to be ‘obsessed’ with keeping her teeth clean so that they don’t become yellow from the nicotine – apparently she brushes up to ten times a day, according to The Sun newspaper.

The 22-year-old always carries a toothbrush and toothpaste with her wherever she goes but does not attend regular dental appointments due to fear of the dentist; she tweeted last week ‘Just been to the dentist I dragged myself there been avoiding it for ages as I get too scared can’t bear it. And because im obsessed with brushing my teeth its made them too sensitive as I’ve attacked my enamel and I’ve still got two baby teeth. (sic)’

A source confirmed the news, telling The Sun; ‘Helen is paranoid. She is always scrubbing away – sometimes up to ten times a day. She was stunned to be told she’s causing more harm than good.’

The enamel on our teeth can be damaged by tooth paste that contains harsh abrasives – as many whitening products do – and Helen could be causing irreversible problems if she brushes too soon after eating as well – this is when the enamel is most vulnerable and can easily be worn down with over-brushing. To improve the shade of teeth, professional teeth whitening or dental veneers could be carried out which are far more effective than over-brushing.

Best celebrity smiles are revealed

Tue

Last year it was Cheryl Cole who had the nation’s favourite smile, but the Geordie has been usurped by singer Tulisa Contostavlos, who also took her place on the X-Factor panel as a judge. A survey carried out by the Harley Street Clinic revealed that Tulisa’s teeth are top of the list when it comes to the UK’s ideal smile. Tulisa spent thousands making sure her teeth were perfectly straight and white before she made her X-Factor debut last series, and it seems the improvement hasn’t gone unnoticed among viewers. Third place was taken by Kate Middleton, while her sister Pippa found herself down in tenth, and Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan also managed to make the top ten.

Olympic diver Tom Daley topped the list for the men, with his pearly whites beating away rivals David Beckham and TOWIE’s Mark Wright. Russell Brand also made a surprise appearance on the list, as his teeth have been whitened since he moved to the US. The Royal family were found to be popular with men too, with Prince Harry coming in at the number eight spot – just behind rapper Prof. Green, who has spent a reported £12,000 on a complete smile makeover.

The obvious ‘Hollywood smile’ has fallen in popularity slightly this year, as the blinding white teeth of Nicola Roberts, Chloe Sims, and Simon Cowell failed to make the top ten; most people who were asked felt their teeth were too large and too bright to look natural.

Denise Welch gets her smile fixed

Fri

Loose Women’s Denise Welch gave the thumbs up to photographers after leaving the dentist today, and grinned widely to show off her new smile, she even stuck her tongue out at the waiting paparazzi as she exited the surgery, apparently very pleased with the results.

Not long after leaving the Big Brother house, Dense was seen out and about with husband Tim Healy celebrating his 60th birthday, with a gap-toothed smile that she didn’t initially seem to shy about showing off. A day later, she explained to Loose Women panellists Sherrie Hewson and Carol McGiffin that it had fallen out on Friday night, right after her victory over X-Factor reject Frankie Cocozza. She didn’t specify what caused it to fall out, but was anxious to get to the dentist and have it fixed as soon as possible.

This isn’t the first time the former Coronation Street star has had trouble with her teeth, she tweeted in February that she could ‘smile again!’ after having her missing dental implant replaced.

The 53-year-old actress has been keeping a low profile over the past few days, as rumours of an extramarital affair hit the tabloids following her triumphant exit from the Celebrity Big Brother house on Friday night. When asked about the allegations, Denise was quick to assure her fans and fellow Loose Women, that everything was ‘fine at home’.
