Renee Zellweger denies cosmetic surgery claims

In the run up to the premiere of her new film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, actress Renee Zellweger has flatly denied claims that she has undergone cosmetic surgery, stating that she is more than comfortable with aging naturally. The star re-emerged from her six year acting break back in 2014, at the Elle Magazine’s Women in Hollywood awards, with a drastic new look. Following this appearance, the actress sparked an array of wild media speculation about her potential plastic surgery work, which still seems to be attracting debate following her recent appearance on the BBC’s, The One Show.

Some fans have expressed grave concerns about the star’s drastically changing facial features after her One Show appearance. Fans stated that she looked “unrecognisable” and also pointed out that it looked as if she was “struggling to open her eyes” on the show, The Mirror Online reported.

Following the media frenzy that ensued, people are opening up dialogue and discussion about the deeper issue of female body image and the ‘pressures’ of continuing to look young and youthful in a modern society. This is a debate that seems to be a hot topic of conversation at the present time and will most likely continue to be over the coming months and years.

Renee Zellweger’s appearance surprises fans

Actress Renee Zellweger appeared at a fashion event in New York this week with a surprising new look; the 44-year-old was almost unrecognisable from her days as career-defining character Bridget Jones. Renee has recently slimmed down to a size 6 but that may not explain the change in her complexion, as she displayed more defined cheeks, a heavy brow line, and a completely smooth forehead.

Fans and photographers alike were quick to question whether the actress had been under the knife and one Twitter follower commented that she looked like she had been ‘hit with a shovel of Botox.’ No comment was forthcoming from the actress’s representatives but the alterations have been put down to a change in lifestyle, rather than any sort of cosmetic enhancement – although most fans remain sceptical about that claim.

Renee recently claimed that she has a much more relaxed outlook now that she has chosen to go behind the camera rather than appear in front of it; the star admitted that she was close to a breakdown after the end of her disastrous 128 day marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney in 2005, but has now found some relief from the pressures of acting, by turning to directing and producing instead.
