A friend of Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts has told a magazine about her recent makeover, which has included extensive cosmetic dentistry.

The unnamed source told celebrity publication Now that since the band's hiatus from 2009 onwards, Roberts has spent £100,000 on a completely new look.

Not only has she splashed out on expensive designer clothing to cement her fashion icon status, but she has also had teeth whitening treatment, dental veneers and invisible braces.

"Nicola had a missing tooth in her lower jaw and getting veneers was a long-term solution. Cheryl Cole recommended it," the pal commented.

After being chosen for Girls Aloud in 2002, Roberts once admitted that she felt like "the ugly one" in the band.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Liam Gallagher had opted for cosmetic dentistry ahead of the launch of his new band Beady Eye.

A friend suggested it might make his look more US-friendly.
